History
In 1976 a group of mothers formed an organization called "Preschoolers".
They started with approximately 9 moms and grew to 14 the second year.
The main purpose of the group was to
establish a babysitting co-op.
As the Club grew they found it necessary to make some changes. The
name no longer was accurate since the children were getting older,
so it was changed to Preschoolers Plus. They also had moms that wanted
to be involved in the activities but did not want to participate
in the babysitting co-op. Therefore, the club roster consisted of
Co-op members and Social members.
In 2002, the club elected to change it's name to "The Lake St.
Louis Mothers Club". This name change was made to help new mother's
arriving in our community identify us and outside organizations to
understand better who we are. At this time we are no longer
offering the babysitting co-op.
The LSL
Mothers Club has three objectives as outlined in its bylaws:
1.
Provide support, education and social opportunities;
2.
Sponsor organized activities for children in the community; and
3.
Raise and provide funds to support family-centered community projects.
The group is still an all-volunteer, high performance, dynamic group
of women who want to make a difference in their community while providing
safe and fun entertainment for their children.
